The Samahang Marinduqueno sa Kanlurang Saudi Arabia (SMKSA) first project was the Aid to the Victims of Typhoon Reming. They donated and personally delivered personal hygene products and financial support to the Province of Marnduque on November of 2006.
On February 2008 MISSION OF LOVE VI, Ms. Salve Malapote, the lone delegate of the SMKSA Chapter, contributed a cash amount of $1000 to the Marinduque International, Inc. as a contribution to the Mission of Love fund. The money was received by MI, Inc. President, Mr. Noli Ricohermoso and was turned over to Mrs. Thelma M. Santos, Chairman of Board of MI. In addition to a cash contribution, the new Chapter, donated Dental Supplies and Blood Pressure (BP) apparatus for all six towns of Marinduque to be used inthe Mission. It was received by MCSC President, Susie Due at the Pre-Mission solicitation efforts in Ontario, Canada.
On October 2008, Bert Pineda and John P. Laus initiated another project in Saudi Arabia dubbed "TULONG PARA SA MGA KABABAYAN" in Jeddah to help those OFW stranded and stayed at the premises of the Philippine Consulate. They, again gave Personal Hygene products to women in the compound. In addition, SMKSA organized a Credit Cooperative for OFW's to save portions of their income for them to use in case of emergency or for them to send to their families backhome. SMKSA took the responsibility of collections anf funding the loans of members to avoid loansharks mostly offered at higher rates. |
