BRIEF IMPRESSIONS
continued.
There were 129 missioners who signed up.
18 M.D.'s, 12 RN's, 4 Dentists, 1 dental assistant and the support group for technical, registration and crowd control. Dr. Hector Sulit headed the ophthalmology team and Raymone Sulit solicited his fellow ophthalmology surgeon from Manila. At the end of the week, the team performed 23 eye surgeries. Dr. Rudy Jao solicited his surgeon friends, Dr. Ed Relucio and Rudy Almase. Our anesthesiologist from US cancelled for personal reason. I have to call a friend from New York, pleading for her son, Dr. Crispin Lara from Cavite and formerly from Mogpog to vollulnteer as our anesthesiologist. At the end of the week, the surgical team performed 29 minor and major surgeries. Ching Jao Manalo led the nurses assigned in the hospital to assist the surgeons.

In the clincial field including dental services (all extraction), we saw and treated more than 6445 patients from the six towns of Marinduque. The Professional Group from PMASC (Southern California) and Philippine Professional Association of Indiana participated in the free clinic. Details and statistics of the field activities will be released in a separate report.

Thank you Marita and Grace for coordinating the statistical results of our field activities. The Marinduque National High School formerlly Marinduque High School students captured all data for entry to the Statistical Reports that will be generated.

The costs of medicine and supplies as per tallied vouchers and supporting documents are about $12,000. Food, lodging, transpsortation and T-shorts that are direct costs matched with the registration fees totalledabout $8,000.

With regards to food, MI saved about 50% becasuse of the generous contributions of families that sponsored lunch or dinners. Rental for Chateau Du Mer for the whole week was P45,000 and if divided by 51 - $882. Dave will gave a discount to MI, Inc. for the next medicalmission. The exact and audited total expenses of the 2006 mission will be reported to you as soon as our accountants have auditied all the reports. My estimate is that only about $20K direct cost was spent for the mission. MI, Inc. donated $1,500 dental x'ray machine and the $1000 to the diocese of Boac thru Bishop Ray Evangelista which were issued separate checks for accounting purposes.

Let me thank all the volunteers both abroad and the Philippines, for making the 2006 medical mission a tremendous success. Words of gratitude is not enough. But I feel that those of you that joined the mission, the experience of helping others is enough compensation for your time, money and energy that you willingly gave to our poor and needy kababayans.
