agreement was reached in 1995 during the MACUSA reunion in Chicago. A Joint Multi-Purpose Marinduque Mission (JM3), which was set to take place in December 1996. All the Marinduque Chapters supported the mission financially and were represented by members who joined the trip to the Phils. The project was three-pronged with 3 teams - each was designed to explore and address specific aspects of life which were perceived to be in need of assistance in the province. The JM3 teams were:
1.) The Medical Mission Team, headed by Dr. Hector Sulit, Dr. Rudy Jao, Dr. Arturo Hernandez, Dr. Rodolfo Mercader, Dr. Godofredo Ng and Dr. Ernesto Milambiling.
2.) The Business and Economic Team led by Flo Apeles, Ben Magahis, Carmelo Fernandez, and Edgar Alandy, and
3.) The Education Team under Ching Jao-Manalo, RN, Paz Sulit, Ben and Remy Magahis, Dr. Jose and Cora Lopez, RN. and Edgar Alandy.

Everyone who joined the mission had a task to accomplish. The period of the mission of the mission covered from December 12 to 21, 1996. The year long preparations involved close coordination between the MIEC in the U.S.; the Marinduque provincial leaders under Gov. Jose N. Carreon, and Dr. Efren Labay, and the PNP contingency under Col. George Alino. There were 30 mission participants from the U.S. and over a hundred from the province and Manila.

About Us continued
The major activity was the medical mission which saw and treated over a thousand medical, dental and surgical patients within a period of 5 days, mostly at the Marinduque Provincial Hospital (MPH) in Boac and at the Sta. Cruz Regional Hospital.
There was a half day seminar on the economic and business subject matters with local speakers and visitors from Manila. The Education teams visited schools and met with teachers and students in Boac and Sta. Cruz. Overall, the first MIEC organized and sponsored mission to Marinduque in 1996 was a success.

Experience, knowledge and lessons were gained from all aspects of the project which could help in the preparations for future missions to the province. It was apparent that the medical services rendered by the mission were the most needed and much appreciated by the underserved indigents of the province. Other major gains to the MPH were the donations of medical equipment and supplies to alleviate some of the needs of the hospital.
